A Unit of Aravalli Adventures – The Dera Baghdarrah Experience

Dera Baghdarrah is a jungle resort located inside Baghdarah Crocodile Conservation Reserve, just about 45 mins from Udaipur city and the same distance from Udaipur airport. The semi luxury jungle camp comprises of 6 Swiss tents situated on Baghdarah Lake. All tents have a lake view from the balcony. The camp is situated in the natural wild, with crocodiles floating in the lake and a host of wild animals and birds residing in the forest. These include the leopard, wild boar, nilgai, hare, tortoises, and a whole host of birding life. One can go on extensive jungle walks in the many forest trails, do a jeep safari or take a zip line ride over the lake.

Accommodation

The camp has a total of 6 tents. 2 air-conditioned deluxe tents and 4 air cooled standard tents. All tents have an attached washroom and a netted balcony overlooking the lake. All tents are equipped with a king-sized bed and other necessary furniture designed in classic colonial style. The tents are well spaced out, which ensures enough privacy for each tent.

Location

Dera Baghdarrah is located inside Bagdarah Crocdile Conservation Reserve, just on the outskirts of Udaipur. The distance to the camp from the city Is about 20 kms and to Udaipur airport is about 24 kms. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the city or the airport. The last 4 kms is a kuchcha jungle road, but all cars can come up to the camp without any trouble. The camp is situated at the edge of Baghdarah lake and ours is the only property inside the park

 

Wildlife

The park is home to a variety of animals like the leopard, muggers (crocodiles), wild boar, nilgai (antelope), star tortoises, black naped hare, civets, jungle cat, porcupines, monitor lizards etc. One can spot some of these animals during the nature walk or while on a jeep safari.

Birding

Over a 125 species of birds have been spotted and recorded in the reserve at various times of the year. These include the dusky eagle owl, mottled wood owl, Egyptian vulture, changeable hawk eagle, serpent eagle, paradise flycatcher, a variety of storks and kingfishers, Indian pitta and many more.
